Sometimes first aid isn’t a bandage, or CPR, or calling 911. Sometimes, first aid is YOU. A person you know could be experiencing a mental health or substance use problem. Take a course. Safe a life. Strengthen your community. Community Partners offers Mental Health First Aid courses to assist young people and adults experiencing mental health problems or crises.

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an 8-hour course that teaches anyone 18 years or older how to identify, understand, and respond to someone expressing signs of addiction, mental illness, or mental health crisis. Just as CPR helps you assist an individual having a heart attack, MHFA helps you assist someone experiencing a mental health or substance use-related crisis. In the MHFA course, you learn risk factors and warning signs for mental health and addiction concerns, strategies for how to help someone in both crisis and non-crisis situations, and where to turn for help.

The MHFA course costs $30 and includes the MHFA manual and lunch.

Note: Training takes place in Auditorium 3 at Wentworth Douglass Hospital’s Garrison Auditoriums.
