About Brian Collins
Brian Collins was Community Partners’ Executive Director for 27 years. He lived and worked in the field of developmental disabilities throughout his lifetime. He had a positive impact on diverse programs and professionals across the state. He was an inspiration to many.
In 2022, what was to be his retirement year, he was diagnosed with and succumbed to Glioblastoma. To honor his legacy and life of impact, Community Partners has established an award to be presented each year at our annual meeting. The Brian Collins Impact Award will recognize an individual, family or organization that is dedicated to finding creative and compassionate solutions that support and improve the lives of people with developmental disabilities, mental illness and aging individuals and families.
Across NH, Brian was known for understanding the complex human services systems and his creative, compassionate problem solving. He could think quickly on his feet and walk the tightrope between the rules and reality of life. He brought a unique perspective borne of his life experiences. Brian was always fueled by the work itself, meeting the daily needs of families, working with and around obstacles. His disarming humor, curiosity and engagement of all people led to human service innovations and creative solutions. His listening skills and long-range view brought people together. Brian highly respected individuals’ dignity and worked to build environments where everyone is fully integrated in their community.
Community Partners seeks nominations of individuals, families and organizations who embody this spirit and exhibit dedication to positively impacting vulnerable NH individuals and families.
The winner will be honored at The Community Partners Annual Meeting on November 19, 2024, receive a cash prize of $270, highlighting his 27 years with Community Partners, and a commemorative plaque.
