DESCRIPTION:  \nThis training is appropriate for parents and community members or anyone who has contact with individuals at risk whether in a professional\, personal\, or informal capacity as a gatekeeper. A gatekeeper’s role is to be aware of persons in their community\, recognize any risk factors or warning signs that may be present\, connect with that individual\, and establish connections that reinforce the necessary safety and support for this person. \nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER FOR THE TRAINING \n**PLEASE NOTE THIS TRAINING IS FOR 18 and older and is not suitable for students** \nThe purpose of gatekeeper training is to: \n\nProvide an introduction to suicide as a public health issue\nEngage gatekeepers in playing a role in suicide prevention\nEducate trainee about risk\, protective factors\, and nationally accepted warning signs\nProvide participants with an understanding of how to recognize warning signs\nProvide participants with tools to be able to connect with a person at risk and link them with appropriate resources\nProvide participants with the opportunity to “rehearse” an interaction with someone at risk\nReduce stigma and encourage help seeking behaviors and access to treatment and support for mental health and substance abuse issues\n\n \nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER FOR THE TRAINING
