SUMMARY:Youth Mental Health First Aid Training
DESCRIPTION:A young person you know could be experiencing a mental health challenge or crisis. You can help them. \nYou are more likely to encounter someone — friend\, family member\, student\, neighbor\, or member of the community — in an emotional or mental crisis than someone having a heart attack. \nYouth Mental Health First Aid teaches a 5-step action plan to offer initial help to young people showing signs of a mental illness or in a crisis\, and connect them with the appropriate professional\, peer\, social\, or self help care. \nAnyone can take the 8-hour Youth Mental Health First Aid course\, but it is ideally designed for adults who work with young people\, ages 12-18 — teachers\, coaches\, leaders of faith communities\, social workers\, and other caring citizens. \nTickets are $30. There are only 30 seats available…reserve your seat now! Cost of the program includes the YMHFA Manual and lunch.

SUMMARY:Mental Health First Aid Training
DESCRIPTION:Sometimes first aid isn’t a bandage\, or CPR\, or calling 911. Sometimes\, first aid is YOU. A person you know could be experiencing a mental health or substance use problem. Take a course. Safe a life. Strengthen your community. Community Partners offers Mental Health First Aid courses to assist young people and adults experiencing mental health problems or crises. \nMental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an 8-hour course that teaches anyone 18 years or older how to identify\, understand\, and respond to someone expressing signs of addiction\, mental illness\, or mental health crisis. Just as CPR helps you assist an individual having a heart attack\, MHFA helps you assist someone experiencing a mental health or substance use-related crisis. In the MHFA course\, you learn risk factors and warning signs for mental health and addiction concerns\, strategies for how to help someone in both crisis and non-crisis situations\, and where to turn for help. \nThe MHFA course costs $30 and includes the MHFA manual and lunch. \nNote: Training takes place in Auditorium 3 at Wentworth Douglass Hospital’s Garrison Auditoriums.
